Anger Management and The Senior Victims

There is no doubt that many individuals could class themselves as victims of anger. This is aside from the individual that is having problem with anger management because in essence they too are a victim. If they were in control of their angry action then one could say they had a choice, but they have not. In fact they have no control over their angry outbursts although they may try very hard to keep them in check.

One of the saddest victims to suffer from angry outburst quite often though are the seniors. Elderly parents who have become dependant on their children for care often become the brunt of an individuals anger whose anger is not self directed.

Many times the senior who is suffering from this outburst of anger will do so in silence. Depending on their state of mind they may feel that they antagonized the outburst and therefore will not come back with recourse.

Many times seniors simply do not have the mental strength to stand their ground when caught in the crossfire of an angry outburst.

Individuals that are in need of anger management help that have a history of lashing out at senior victims need to stop and think that although they may not mean what they say in their fit of temper, that does not lessen the sting of those words or the hurt that those seniors feel.

What makes this type of anger management problem worse when the victims are the seniors is that it is particularly frustrating for the person suffering with the anger issue. Its not that they have chosen to target the senior parent, its often because they feel the senior who is their Mother or Father will be the most forgiving. What they fail to realize is that their parents have reached an age where they now need the support of their children as opposed to their adult children needing the support of their parents.

Most often seniors don't have the outside resources to turn to that perhaps young people, other loved ones or a spouse would have that is a victim to anger.

If the person who is in need of anger management cannot see the harm that is being caused here or refuses to see it, then it is up to others to intervene on the seniors behalf. No one should stand by and watch anyone be a victim of anger if they are not able to stand up for themselves.
